Wedding Photographers: Protect Your RAW Files

Clients always ask for RAWs. Your contract should explicitly say 'NO' (or charge $1k+).

Wedding photography is high stakes. You have one chance to capture the moment. Emotions are high, family drama is real, and the contract is your only shield.

The RAW File Debate

Client: "Can I get all the unedited photos?"

Your Answer: No. Your editing style is your brand. Releasing bad RAWs hurts your reputation.

The Contract: "Client is entitled to JPEG deliverables only. RAW files remain the exclusive property of Photographer." If they insist, put a massive price tag on it (e.g., $1,500).

The "Safe Working Environment" Clause

Weddings involve alcohol. If a guest sexually harasses you or becomes violent, you need the legal right to pack up your gear and leave without refunding the money. Make sure this is explicit.

Model Release

You can't use their photos on your Instagram/Website unless they sign a Model Release. Don't forget this, or your portfolio will stay empty.
